A Letter to the Buyer Who's Ready to Quit

I see you.

You've been at this for a while now — longer than you ever expected. You've toured homes you

loved and lost them. You've written offers that felt hopeful and received rejections that felt personal. You've refreshed the listings app more times than you'd care to admit, and somewhere along the way, the excitement started to feel less like anticipation and more like exhaustion.

You're tired. And if I'm being honest with you, that's okay.

Because here's what I want you to know: the weariness you're feeling right now? It doesn't mean you've made a mistake. It means you've been trying — really trying — in one of the most emotionally demanding markets Kansas City has seen in years. Rising rates, multiple-offer situations, homes gone in a weekend. The deck has felt stacked, and your feelings about that are valid.

I worked with a buyer not long ago who were in exactly this place.

They had been searching for over a year. They knew their neighborhood. They knew their wish list. They had done everything right. And then one day, a home came on the market on the exact street they had dreamed about — the kind of listing where you walk in and feel, this is it.

They submitted a strong offer. There were multiple others. Theirs wasn't chosen.

In the days that followed, we talked honestly. About the market, yes — but more than that, about what they needed. Not just in a house, but in this season of their lives. And together, we made a decision that surprised them a little: we stepped back.

They chose to rent for a year. They chose rest over rushing. And they trusted that when the timing felt right again, we would reconvene.

That trust took courage. It's not the move most people expect a REALTOR to suggest. But the right move isn't always the fastest one.

Twelve months later, they called.

They came back to the search grounded in a way they hadn't been before — clearer about what truly mattered, less shaken by the noise of the market. And when the right home appeared, they were ready. Not frantic. Ready.

It was a beautifully updated home in a location that checked every box on their long-term investment list. The kind of home that, a year earlier, they might have overlooked in favor of chasing what had slipped through their hands. But they didn't overlook it. They recognized it. And they chose it with confidence.

I'm not telling you this story to give you a tidy ending. Real estate isn't always straight forward.

I'm telling you because I think you deserve to hear that pausing is not the same as failing. That knowing your limits is not weakness — it's wisdom. That the best version of this journey looks different for every person, and sometimes it looks like taking a breath.

If you're ready to keep going, I'm here. I will fight for you with everything I have.

And if you need to step back for a season, I'm still here. When you're ready — whether that's next month or next year — we'll start again, and we'll do it right.

The home that's meant for you isn't going anywhere. Neither am I.
